PRIVACY
Effective 30 August 2026 · Applies to the Attune Self iOS app and this website.
The short version
What you write and record in Attune Self is stored on your device. We do not require an account, we do not sell or share your entries, and we do not use them to train any model. Optional data — such as steps, weather, or photos — is only read if you grant permission, and can be switched off at any time.
1. What you create
Check-ins, emotion words, body sensations, context tags, notes, journal entries, saved talks, skill practices, and any tasks you write are your content. They are written to local storage on your device.
2. Where it lives
Your content is held on your device. Attune Self is enabled for iCloud Backup: if you have iCloud Backup switched on, iOS includes the app's data in your own encrypted Apple backup. That copy sits in your Apple account, under your control, and is governed by Apple's privacy terms — we cannot read it. We do not operate a server that stores your entries.
3. Optional permissions
Attune Self asks for a permission only when a feature you opened needs it, explains what it is for at the moment of asking, and works without it:
Motion & step count — read on-device to sit alongside a check-in. Never uploaded.
Approximate location / weather — used to note the conditions around a check-in. We do not store a location history.
Photos — only the images you explicitly attach to an entry. Attune Self does not scan your library.
Notifications — quiet reminders you choose. Off by default, and never streak-based.
Every permission can be revoked in iOS Settings or turned off inside the app. When you turn one off, the related content simply stops appearing.
4. What we don't do
We do not sell or rent your personal data.
We do not share your entries with advertisers, data brokers, or third-party analytics.
We do not use your entries to train artificial intelligence models.
We do not build advertising profiles or track you across other apps and websites.
We do not require an email address or account to use the app.
5. Diagnostics
If you have opted in to Apple's "Share with App Developers" setting on your device, Apple may send us anonymised crash and performance reports. These contain technical information only — never your entries — and are governed by Apple's privacy terms. We have no way to link them to you.
6. Children
Attune Self is intended for people aged 13 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, contact us and we will delete it.
7. Your control and your rights
You can delete any single entry inside the app, and clear all app data from Settings. Deleting the app removes its local data from your device (a copy may remain in your own Apple backup until that backup is replaced). Because we do not hold your entries on a server, there is nothing for us to hand over or erase on your behalf. Where the CCPA/CPRA applies, you retain your rights of access, deletion, correction, and portability — write to us and we will help you exercise them against any data we do hold, such as an email you have sent us.
8. Support correspondence
If you email us, we keep your message and address for as long as it takes to help you and to keep a record of the issue. We do not add you to a mailing list.
9. Changes to this policy
If this policy changes in a way that affects you, we will update the effective date above and note the change in the app's release notes. Continuing to use Attune Self after a change means you accept the updated policy.
10. Contact
Questions about privacy, or a request about your data: connect@attuneself.app. We aim to reply within five working days.
